It is an excerpt from the book Being Young and Muslim, edited by Linda Herrera and Asef Bayat. This chapter is by Moustafa Bayoumi and contains some of his conclusions from his study of young Muslim-American men in Brooklyn. After reading the chapter I’d like you to give your personal response. What did you learn from this excerpt? Many of the statistics were from prior to 2010. Do you think the Islamophobia or discrimination Bayoumi discusses and the different research outlines has improved or worsened since?
