Was the US Constitution a radical or conservative plan for government?
Compared to most other governments of this period ( based on monarchy and aristocracy), the new American republic gave more power directly or indirectly to the people (narrowly define as white, propertied males). But the anti federalists thought it gave too much power to urban elites; some viewed it as counter revolutionary, compared to the radical (egalitarian) notions in the Virginia Declaration of Rights and the Declaration of Independence. What do you think about this? Why?
