a little confused because there are the four megatrends, and then there are the game changers and other subjects that do not seem to be a
much of a trend-type explanation as the megatrends are. My question is: do you want us to pick 3 megatrends, or 3 ofthe overall topics
discussed within the document?”

Answer: The purpose of your papers is to serve as a way to start discussions about what kinds ofthreats

the United States is likely to confront in about fifteen years or so (the following week we will look at opportunities). With this in mind,
lwant you to drill deeperthan the megatrends and choose three more specific trends or phenomena (i.e., overall topics) that you feel will
play a large role in defining the threat environment of 2030. If you feel strongly about one ofthe megatrends, you can choose one ofthose
to write about, then choose two other more specific ones. This should produce a good discussion.
