1. Individual Essay
The purpose of the essay to encourage you to employ some of the research skills that you have learned in this module to explore a new topic in international business.

You are expected to research and reflect on the topics, but can take very different approaches in your essays.   Since this exercise is also to help you to further

develop the skills required at Master’s level, I can’t provide individual instruction as to how to complete the essay beyond that given in the Seminars.
You are asked to select ONE of the following topics and to write an academic ESSAY, employing the theories and concepts learned in this module. This Essay must be

completed individually and all work must be your own.

Using the theory surrounding formal and informal institutional differences (see, e.g., Williamson (2000) on New Institutional Economics), critically evaluate the

effect of corruption on the international operations of a business.  Give at least one detailed example from the past three years.

The following are not included in word counts:
Reference lists/Bibliographies and Question Titles
Appendices/Footnotes- provided these have been used only when necessary.
Tables/Graphs- provided these have been imported from elsewhere (correctly referenced) and not produced by the student.
Contents Pages and Front Pages of Reports

As well as the essay/report itself, the following are included in word counts:
Citations/quotations- this includes the material paraphrased/quoted itself as well as the name, date and page information.

Tables and graphs- if they have been produced by the student.
