1ST Exercise: – Recognizing Genre (15 marks)

1. Which genres do the sets of images below represent?

2. How can you tell? What are the iconographic elements which indicate the genre you have chosen? (i.e. support your response).

2nd Exercise (10 marks)

a) What would you say the images below are trying to convey to us about the characters they depict? (e.g. Is there a dominant character here? What is his/her personality? What is his/her relationship to the other characters? ).

b) How do these images compare or contrast in relation to one another, and their representation of the characters depicted? Justify your answer with examples from the photos (composition, lighting, framing, objects of attention), etc.
