Basic background: Occupy Wall Street (OWS) is the name given to a protest movement that began on September 17, 2011, in Zucati Park located in New York City’s Wall Street financial district. The Canadian, anti-consumerist, pro-environment group/magazine, Adbusters initiated the call for a protest. The ensuing series of events helped lead to media awareness that inspired Occupy protests and movements around the world. The main issues raised by Occupy Wall Street were social and economic inequality, greed, corruption and the perceived undue influence of corporations on government—particularly from the financial services sector. The OWS slogan, We are the 99%, refers to income inequality and wealth distribution in the U.S. between the wealthiest 1% and the rest of the population

Guidelines:

1.    You must choose ONE research topic from the list below.
2.    Once you choose a topic you should to read both articles provided.
3.    You MUST then find one article ON YOUR OWN by researching the SFU database for journal articles.
4.    ALL THREE research articles must be used in your essay at least once.
5.    Once you’ve read the research articles, you are required to choose ONE research question to focus your essay.
