While reading Simon Wiesenthal’s story, think about the following questions:

What is Karl’s level of responsibility in the massacre that took place?
What do you think is Karl’s primary motivation for confessing to Simon?
Does Simon have the authority to forgive Karl? And if so, should he?
How do you interpret Simon’s silence?
Why doesn’t Simon tell Karl’s mother the truth about her son? What is the most virtuous action he could have taken in that situation?
If justice is to be distributed proportionately, per Aristotle, what would justice be for Karl?
