white British woman

Read through the practice scenario and answer the questions associated with it.
Mr Wilson is a white British man aged 72 years who lives with his wife, a white British woman aged 70 years, in a semi –detached 3 bedroom house in a residential area close to the city centre in a Northern town. He has suffered from Multiple Sclerosis since he was 40 years old and has surprised his consultant by his longevity and the extent to which he has been able to maintain a fairly active life. However his mobility has been restricted for some time and although he can manage to get around the house with the use of a stick and holding on to furniture, this is becoming more difficult, especially when he tries to negotiate his way to the downstairs bathroom and he has recently had two falls, leaving him with bruising on his arms and face. His sight has been affected too and he finds it difficult to watch the television now though he is an avid fan of sports commentary on the radio – especially cricket. He and his wife have a very close relationship and until very recently Mrs Wilson made sure that the couple had at least a couple of outings per week in the car ( in the Summer to cricket matches), with the wheelchair in the boot. She also wheeled him to the local shops. She also managed all the cooking and housework, and helped her husband to the bathroom and into the bath. However three weeks ago Mrs Wilson fell in the garden when she was taking the wheelie bin out and fractured her wrist and badly bruised her leg, which is not healing very well. The couple have two daughters, Susan and Beth who both live in the South. They both work full time but are trying to take turns in coming up at the weekend. This is difficult for them to sustain but they are also worried that their mother is trying to do too much during the week and is now quite exhausted. The couple have always been very independent and Mrs Wilson feels that she does not want anyone else to help with some of the personal care tasks for her husband but has reluctantly agreed to Susan contacting the local Adult Services Team to see if they can offer any support.
