II. Creative writing Option Two: Write a journal entry for the protagonist in “The Yellow Wallpaper.” It should fit the story’s time and place. Again, no anachronisms! YOU ARE THE PROTAGONIST!

Your pretend entry should address the following issues, among others:

1. How HAVE YOU found time to write in her journal?

2. What has just happened to provoke this writing?

3. Give us clues about your state of mind during the writing. Do you stick to one topic or do you jump around to show that state of mind?

4. What is the current state of the yellow wallpaper?

5. How do you regard her husband? Jenny, the maid?

6. Gilman’s protagonist writes as though she were talking to someone. Try to emulate that.
