You have been asked by the African Development Bank (AFDB) to write a report on the state of manufacturing industry in Africa. The questions the AFDB wants you to answer are the following:

1.    What are the key forces and factors that have shaped the manufacturing industry in Africa?

2.    What prospects and challenges for development exist for Africa manufacturing?

3.    How might the government in Africa and international bodies seek to impact the manufacturing industry?
