Paper, Order, or Assignment Requirements

 

 

Task 1 has to be 2200 words (+/- 10%).
Task 2 has to be 800 words (+/- 10%).

About task 2, only the ADT part has to be done, because I’m an ADT student. So it’s only the ADT section that has to be done in task 2.

TASK 1 – 2200 words +/- 10% (typically 6 – 8 pages excluding tables, etc.)

 

  1. a) – Examine the whole building and provide guidance for use by the Building Services Engineer in the design of Mechanical and Electrical Services that might be installed in the building to meet the ‘Environmental Comfort’ criteria the building’s occupants should expect. In terms of this assignment Environmental Comfort criteria are defined as physical data that are sourced from approved regulations and/or guides and that are demonstrable/measurable in some manner to confirm their achievement at the M&E services commission stage of the construction project. The data selected should be relevant to the needs of Task 1 parts b), c) and d) below. Include fully cited and referenced tables, charts, graphs, etc. to back up your guidance. (1 – 1 ½ pages excluding tables, etc.)

 

  1. b) – Determine by one calculation only, and a subsequently developed ‘Rule of Thumb (ROT)’, typical steady state heat losses from all offices and internal spaces on the ‘Intermediate floor’. Calculate the General Office on the Intermediate Floor and use the derived ‘ROT’ to determine heat losses for all other offices and internal spaces on that floor and the remaining four floors (note all assumptions made). Discuss how a resultant whole building heat loss calculation would be used in a real project. Calculation procedures will be covered in module lectures. (1 – 1 ½ pages excluding calculations, tables, etc.)

 

  1. c) – Carry out a lighting design using the ‘Lumen Method’ for the Retail Area on the ground floor. The luminaire selected for the design is your choice and its selection must be justified by you. In particular, identify and discuss what information is missing from the drawing that a real designer would need in order to calculate and optimise the design. Include manufacturers’ literature as appropriate to illustrate the data used in producing your design. Use photos as appropriate (fully titled and cited) to illustrate the kind of design you would wish to achieve in a real project giving the reasons behind your proposals. Calculation procedures will be covered in module lectures. (1 – 1 ½ pages excluding calculations, tables, photos, etc.)

 

  1. d) – Examine the ground floor layout in relation to the location of Lecture Theatres 1 and 2. Discuss any acoustics related conditions you perceive might be a problem and propose ideas to alleviate those problems. Consider both internal and external noise and vibration sources. Use manufacturers’ literature as appropriate to illustrate some/all of your proposed control measures. (1 – 1 ½ pages excluding calculations, tables, etc.)
