WHAT TO CRITIQUE?

Critique each element (1-17). Your job is to see if all of the important information (elements 1-17) has been addressed to some degree somewhere in the article. A good research article will address all of the elements to some degree but they may not be presented as separate or explicit sub-sections with the same titles as in your table. For example, a published article my not have a comprehensive literature review (often due to space limits in the publication) but a good article will succinctly discuss the key insights provided by prior research thereby setting the stage for the need for the current research being reported in your article. You will need to look for this information within the article. Another example, it may not have a methodology section explicitly but a good article will concisely describe their methodological approach (why qual/quant, type of qual methodology such as phenomenology, etc.) to provide the foundation on which the research is built.
Critique both strengths and weaknesses for each element
Critique both the information/analysis that has been provided in the article as well as what has not been provided (the absence of information is most important to consider).
REFERENCING

To make this easier, please follow these instructions for referencing.

Provide an in-text and end-text reference for the article that you are critiquing ONLY ONCE and then you do not have to reference it again. This is not proper referencing but makes this assignment simpler.
No other in-text referencing is required within the table. Again, this is not proper referencing but makes this assignment simpler.
Provide end-text references for any and every source of information that you draw upon to develop this assignment. Anything that you were not born knowing should have an associated end-text reference. Thus, I will be looking for end-text references that support anything that you have said about what should be in an article and what makes it good or bad.
